It’s been the stuff of football fantasy since 1966.

England winning an international tournament at Wembley. But we did it. WE DID IT!

And it wasn’t just a victory for sport, it was a victory for equality. Even 10 years ago, you couldn’t have imagined walking into a pub and seeing women’s football on the big screen but the European Championship Finals stadium crowd numbered a record-breaking 87,192.

Earlier this summer, Will Douglas photographed the Lionesses for a Sports Direct campaign. In his portraits, shot on film in locations across London, the players’ unique personalities shine through. As does their awareness that they aren’t just doing this for themselves but for generations of girls who come after them.

“It’s about all the young girls who are watching – and thinking, that could be me one day.”
