In this renaissance of craft, one man takes centre stage: Julius Quinn. Though a multi-disciplinary artist, many refer to Julius as the father of modern quilting. Matt was commissioned to shoot his debut book, Modern Quilting.

The result is an investigation into the process of making. The calmness of style and focus in energy of how Julius creates is mirrored in Matt's photography. Combining traditional techniques with his intuitive relationship with material, the images highlight the form, the detail and the artistry behind the product.

Through moments of still sunlight, focussed work with stitch and scissors, and quilts hanging and flowing in a draft, the images reveal the flow of energy it takes to create, from conception to completion.
