Set slightly back from the street, it could easily be missed. Step inside, though, and a treasure trove of journeys from across the world envelopes you.

It was precisely 7.30am when Matt stepped into the home of Kerry Moody, the air humming and heavy with rain desperate to fall. He had been selected as a contributing photographer for Life Inside a Cottage, published by Quadrille in April 2026. It’s a sweeping photographic celebration of cottage living across the world, from RIBA award-winning designs in Wales to vibrant homes in New Orleans.

Matt's assignment took him to the city he had long imagined through music, to photograph the home of Kerry Moody, a native New Orleanian descended from generations of Louisiana Creoles, whose cottage is a remarkable treasure trove of antiques, art and artefacts gathered from a lifetime of travel.

The shoot presented a unique creative challenge. Arriving after multiple flight cancellations caused by storms, Matt had to quickly build a rapport with Kerry and find his way into the soul of the space. The two fell into an instinctive collaboration, working through rooms dense with history and story. The goal was to honour both the architectural character of the cottage and the deeply personal life lived within it; capturing not just a beautiful interior, but the remarkable man behind it.
