Amit & Naroop came up with the idea for Lil Warriors when they visited their friends’ Taekwondo studio in Ealing, West London. He wanted to show them the refurbishment he just had done. Even though they loved what he had done with the place, they were more impressed by the young kids class that was being taught while they were there.

The kids, aged between 5 – 9, were very disciplined. They listened to their teachers’ every word, their eyes fixed on him. Whatever move he said to perform, they executed with precision. They immediately knew they wanted to work with these kids, but weren’t sure about the approach. What would capture the intensity and pride that they saw in class?

After much thinking, they came up with the idea to use dramatic lighting and dust in the air to create lighting reminiscent of old martial arts movies that they used to watch in their younger years. The contrast of powerful lighting and young kids seemed like an intriguing combination.

The shoot went even better than expected. The kids were happy to be involved and show the dramatic kicks, punches and other moves they had practiced. The discipline they learnt in class was carried on in the shoot. They listened to our every word. Confident. Proud. Strong. Fearless.
