Hopping between four tourist destinations - PortAventura’s roller-coasters, Buñol’s tomato fight, an Almería cowboy set, and Lo Pagán’s mud spa - Jack was influenced by the sunny clichés of English holidays. Each location promised their own escape of thrills, fiesta, frontier and wellness.
Yet he is drawn to the inevitable anti-climax: the rotten tomatoes, phallic cacti, sweating queues, and mud smelling faintly of eggs. These pictures celebrate the bittersweet gap between holiday fantasies and their unpolished reality, where anticipation and letdown rub shoulders in the sun.
