Luke and Tom Stoltman are giants of powerflifting. Born 10 years apart, the brothers have been training together since Tom decided to follow in his elder sibling’s footsteps. Today they claim the titles of UK’s, Europe’s and World’s Strongest Men.
Peter spent time photographing and filming with the pair, who hail from the Scottish Highlands. Peter’s imagery captures their physical might as they perform superhuman feats – anyone for lifting a 280 kg Atlas Stone? – but also their lived realities. Luke has been open about his struggles with mental health, while Tom was diagnosed with Autism as a child. These gentle giants have become heroes in their hometown Invergordon – but it’s their shared bond that comes across most of all.
The short doc Peter directed about the Stoltman Brothers won a Gold Award at the Kinsale Sharks Festival.
