When Sky wanted a photographer to shoot a set of portraits for their gritty drama series, Save Me, Erik Almas was the obvious choice. The Norweigen-born photographer is renowned for his ambitious composite images, an approach well suited to the unique demands of this commission.
It’s tricky to get a large cast of talent all together in one location so Almas instead created individual portraits that conveyed each character, bringing them together against the backdrop of The Palm Tree, the pub that features in the series, and a brooding cityscape of tower blocks against inky deep blue skies.
The shoots took places across multiple locations, three studios and three outdoors, with lighting set up to match at each one. You wouldn’t know it to look at the meticulous final shots. Slick, but full of raw tension and intrigue – they’re the perfect calling card for Sky’s acclaimed TV show.
