Welcome to a world with two moons… You’ll find it right here on Earth at Neom – a futuristic, high tech megacity with its own microclimate, currently under construction in Saudi Arabia.

The completed development will feature a 100-mile long mirrored skyscraper, part of The Line, a zero-carbon city, and a mountain resort, Trojena, due to host the 2029 Asian Winter Games. But for now, Neom is a dream in the process of being realized.

Erik Almås spent 10 days at the Neom site near the Gulf of Aqaba photographing landscapes with which he created composite images, with consistent lighting and perspective, incorporating portraits he’d shot in the US and CGI architectural renderings.

In one shot, a reflective obelisk shimmers like some kind of magical portal into another dimension. This and other images from the campaign have appeared in Conde Nast Traveler and on Piccadilly Circus billboards – giving us a taste of things to come.

This shoot was an extraordinary experience for a photographer. I felt like an adventurer.
